Maintaining partnership with our inner Macaque Monkey helps maintain balance with the wholly committed Ibex. Macaque, the idealist, offers an otherworldly intelligence that takes only perfect Conviction in a Perfect Good as its compass bearing.

Spiral of Growth

Turn toward the dark spots that would blind,

seek new reality with Conviction

that you are more than the defenses defining you.

1. Identify two of the main defense mechanisms at play in how you create much of your lived experiences.
2. Practice Minding the Gaps incurred by those defense mechanisms and take a slow look at the demons in your field.
3. Place attention on the implicit needs of those demons.
4. Dare to become a Piper at the Gates of Dawn - embodying the essence of that which might lighten the darkest spaces within.

Standing at the moment before incarnating into physical form,

Before the great imaginal trip into the constructs of dimension, time, and distance

At that pivotal moment of choice, visited again only in dreams and instances of extremity,

"you" come now to see the fabric from which what you have come to know as YOU is made.

A choice of two structural allowances, known heretofore as Defense Mechanisms,

A choice of only two; a Primary one held against the backdrop of a second.

Two complimentary Defense Mechanisms. It will take precisely one lifetime

The curious Adept will ask "But why?. Why do it? And to what end?"

The answers are constructed only from within, after making your fateful decision.

Denial

Propelled by the feeling of Neglect, Deficiency

Denial allows us to play a part in deciding when and where to be overcome by difficult emotions.

Denial is a Defense Mechanism that allows us to keep the presence of overwhelming moods entirely hidden from awareness, thus creating space for less intense moods to make their presence felt.

Denial can be active as a barrier between any moods. (One can deny one’s Suspicious feelings in order to access the Trust needed to dance the Salsa with a stranger) But using a Defense like Denial between everyday Moods that are meant to converse with one another will usually spell trouble (“Why didn’t I listen to my Suspicions from the beginning before getting into this mess?”)

There is a consensus reality - where we perceive that which is agreed upon as reliable. In this reality, we can discuss any two psychological structural allowances chosen by a person and see how the first will be their primary operational mode while the second provides its background. This interplay fashions a realm of Aspirations and Defense Mechanisms that can be explored easily and freely in Ferus Tel.
