Love's Ruptures Show Us What We Are Made of

Once the desire for intimacy is awakened in mature adults, so too awaken recollections of our primal urge for unity. Regression happens! Learning to differentiate ourselves from the ones we rely on for nurturing is difficult work.

We Are Designed to Love Autonomously 

Early childhood truly sets the template for our experience of adult intimacy. But it doesn't end there. Learning to love autonomously as an adult gives us the chance to grow up all over again. 


Saying I'm Sorry

We ask acts of contrition from our children as though saying “I’m sorry” is as simple as saying “please” or “thank you.” We are right to teach this skill early in life. But interpersonally, among those with whom we hope to entrust our deeper selves, saying “I’m sorry” is a far more complex task.
