In the absence of Sobriety, the numinous Spiritual aspects of Tranquility and Poise vanish as well. The choice arises to experience the Defense Mechanism of Denial in their stead. The ensuing feelings of Neglect and Deficiency provide the shadow impetus for a wide spectrum of conscious identities and the arrival of Dark Wave entities embodied in physical forms ruled by Terror and Craving (such as Alters and Fetishists).  

   Reconnecting to Sobriety occurs through the actualization of Compassion and Equanimity. Together they intervene the physical world (by answering the human need for Attuned Security) on behalf of the spiritual world (to return to one’s essence of Tranquility and Poise).
